Shanghai is set to host the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) China round at the Haiwan Outdoor Sports Ground in Fengxian District from September 11 to 13.

Chongqing Junchi Motorcycle Company will compete with its factory team against leading international manufacturers such as KTM, Yamaha, and Honda.

This marks the first instance of a Chinese domestic motorcycle brand entering the MXGP series as an official factory team.

The achievements of Chinese motorcycle maker ZXMOTO in European circuit races have significantly boosted interest in domestic motorsports.

There is a growing enthusiasm among young fans, sponsors, and youth academy programs throughout the country.

"Seeing more people, especially teenagers, take an interest in motorcycle sports and witnessing Chinese enterprises participate is fantastic for the sport's long-term growth," commented veteran Chinese motocross rider Xu Jianhao.

"With increased investment, the quality of Chinese-made bikes and local riders will continue to improve."

The Shanghai round will be the only Asian stop on the 2026 MXGP calendar, featuring more than 90 professional riders from 33 teams across 22 countries and regions.

The lineup includes eight world champions, with notable riders such as Romain Febvre.

Up to 40 bikes are expected to start simultaneously on a track designed by a team from Tongji University, led by Professor Yao Qiming.

Spectators can enjoy daytime racing and participate in evening entertainment activities at the venue. The event will blend motorsports with live music, food stalls, and displays of traditional culture.

Organizers have introduced a dedicated WeChat mini-program to enhance the experience, providing digital venue maps, ticket sales, live streaming links, and race schedules.
